First, I got Breyers…
My horse obsessed, seven-year-old self would never have dreamed that someday I would be wrecking and repainting factory finish Breyer sculptures. At the time, that would have been the cardinal sin! Throughout junior high and high school I actively collected Breyers and tried my hand unsuccessfully at customizing with oils a few times. After selling my second dud for about $20 when I was about sixteen, I decided to give it up and just enjoy the creations of others.
However, there was always a part of me that wanted to find a way to create my own equine art. I packed up my collection and hid it away in storage for three years while I served a church mission, attended a few years of college, and got married. But with a little encouragement from my husband, I finally did some real research and found out that maybe there was a way other than oil paints that I could make work.
Then, I got pastels…
I’ll admit that this investment scared me. Pan Pastels and Earth Pigments aren’t cheap! But luckily, makeup brushes are (I’m a makeup minimalist, so had no idea what to expect when shopping for them but was pleasantly surprised). Since I’ve started to make a little bit of money from selling my customs, my pastel collection continues to grow. And it’s awesome.
Then… I got a blog.
Never have I ever ever ever ONCE imagined myself as a blogger. Isn’t it amazing what happens to us in life? Right when we think we know where we’re going (says the girl just out of college), something happens that you never expected – and hopefully something good! Now, the trick will be keeping up with this whole thing. Anyway, thanks for reading! I’m excited to see where all of this goes.
